Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has been nominated for a major award in the National Hockey League for what he was able to accomplish during the 2024-25 season.

The National Hockey League has begun announcing their three finalists for each award for the 2024-25 season, the winners of which will be announced likely at some point in June.
For Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, who was nominated for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy earlier this month, he's earned another nomination for a major NHL award.

Vancouver Canucks' Quinn Hughes nominated for 2024-25 Norris Trophy

On Tuesday morning, the National Hockey League announced the finalists for the James Norris Memorial Trophy, the award Quinn Hughes took home last year.
For the second year in a row, Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks has been nominated for the James Norris Memorial Trophy, which is given out annually to the league's best defenseman, as voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
Along with Quinn Hughes, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Zachary Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets were also nominated for the award.
"2025 Norris Trophy finalists, as voted by @ThePHWA: Quinn Hughes (VAN), Cale Makar (COL) and Zach Werenski (CBJ)." Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff said on X.
The Orlando, Florida native had a solid 2024-25 campaign with the Canucks, despite dealing with injuries and managed to finish the season with 76 points (16 goals, 60 assists), 29 penalty minutes and was a plus-two in 68 games.
In early December, Hughes broke Alex Edler's franchise record for most assists by a defenseman and is currently tied with the Swede for most points by a blueliner in Vancouver Canucks history.
"Hughes won the Norris Trophy last season and is a finalist for the second time. He had 76 points (16-60-76) in 68 games for the Vancouver Canucks, his 1.12 points per game tied with the highest of his seven-season NHL career set last season." the NHL said in their press release.

We'll have to wait and see how the voters feel about Quinn Hughes' season if they think he's worthy of winning for a second year in a row. However, both Cale Makar and Zach Werenski had great seasons as well and are worthy of the award too.
