As the NHL trade deadline comes to a close, major blockbuster deals were flying left, right and center, and the Vancouver Canucks were one of the sole teams to come up absolutely empty.
Today was one for the history books, as huge names such as
Brad Marchand and
Mikko Rantanen were traded in blockbuster deals that no one saw coming, but Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin was left twiddling his thumbs.
Vancouver Canucks fans denounce the team after embarrassing NHL Trade Deadline
Coming into the NHL trade deadline, it was almost guaranteed that the Canucks were going to make a splash, especially with the rumours surrounding
Brock Boeser not coming to a deal on a contract extension.
For how incredible the market was, Patrik Allvin decided to not make a single move to upgrade the team, telling blatant lies in the process.
He had the audacity to stand in front of the media and say that there was not a market good enough for returns, which could go down as an all-time quote that fans will remember for years to come.
«The biggest reason I felt we didn't do any moves here today is that there was not a whole lot of market return for our players unfortunately,» says Patrik Allvin.
Obviously fans were enraged by the lack of deals, but even more so with the managements empty comments.
Fans took it upon themselves to call into popular Canucks radio show Donnie and Dali to voice their displeasure with the team.
They went as far to denounce they are no longer fans of Vancouver for their lack of initiative.
Donnie and Dhali reading multiple messages from fans saying they're done with the Canucks.
Mention their inbox is exploding with people who have a similar sentiment.
When a team as talented as this, fans are understandably upset when they see every club around the league pulling off big moves to make a push for the playoffs and they are waiting to see something as simple as re-singing of a player.
But as it happens, they shot themselves in the foot and they will surely feel it if they miss the playoffs..
