Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote gives crucial injury update on forward Elias Pettersson

As everyone knows by now, injuries have been a big problem for the Vancouver Canucks this season as Teddy Blueger, Filip Chyti, Derek Forbort, Thatcher Demko and Nils Hoglander currently on the sidelines, with the latter two expected to return to game action very soon.

On Saturday night, the Vancouver Canucks added another name to their lengthy injury list as forward Elias Pettersson hit the ice for warmup with his team, but left shortly after and was deemed out for their tilt against the Minnesota Wild with an upper-body injury.

Due to Pettersson's injury, the Vancouver Canucks were without their top-three centers, leaving David Kampf to assume the 1C role against the Minnesota Wild, who have one of the best goaltenders in the National Hockey League early on - Jesper Wallstedt - who came into action on Saturday with four shutouts in ten games.

Pettersson's injury couldn't come at a worse time for the Vancouver Canucks as they lost their previous four games coming into Saturday's contest against Minnesota Wild and sat dead last in the National Hockey League's overall standings, but somehow, Adam Foote's group prevailed.

Thanks to a three-point night from Aatu Raty and Tom Willander's first goal in the National Hockey League, the Vancouver Canucks were able to defeat the Minnesota Wild 4-2.

After the game, Adam Foote gave an update on Elias Pettersson's status, saying that he found out Saturday morning about the 27-year-old's upper-body injury and that he thought he'd be able to play, but after beginning the warmup, it was clear he wasn't good to go.

The Canucks Head Coach added that Pettersson, a native of Sundsvall, Sweden, will undergo an MRI on Sunday to see the full extent of what he's dealing with.

In 28 games for the Canucks this season, Pettersson has registered 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists), ten penalty minutes and is a minus-eight.
