In just his 10th start since returning from an ongoing and serious knee injury (poplitieus) that had him sidelined for several months, Vancouver Canucks fans feared the worst when Demko left in the second period against the Seattle Kraken in last night contest (Jan 2nd).
When Demko did not return to the game, fans believed that he must of injured the same knee that had almost ended his career during last year 1st-round playoff run.
Fortunately for the Canucks and Demko, head coach Rick Tocchet has revealed that it was not his knee that took him out of the game, but told the media that Demko was suffering from back spasms, and the good news is that it is not expected to big a significant ailment that will see him miss time.
The most likely scenario that caused the spasms was when defenseman Noah Juulsen bumped into Demko in the first period.
Although Demko did not eave the game right away, it was apparent that something was bothering the All-Star goaltender.
What seems to be a major trend all season long, with Demko down the tunnel in the Canucks dressing room, goalie Kevin Lankinen came into the game cold, and like he always does, shut the door on the Seattle Kraken.
The Canucks are lucky to have such a solid goalie tandem as Lankinen came in achieved his 11th road win of the season, improving his record to 11-2-1 with two shutouts.
