Vancouver Canucks Prospect Tom Willander Survives Scare Against Latvia in World Junior Hockey Championship
The 2025 World Hockey Championships has been a great showcase and stage for Vancouver Canucks fans to watch their draft picks and prospects perform at the highest level.
With Team Canada's Sawyer Mynio out in the quarter-final round after suffering a devastating loss to Czechia just moments ago, Tom Willander is the sole vancouver Canucks prospect to watch.
It is a good thing too because he is by far the most promising young talent the Nucks have for the future, especially on the blue line.
But, the road to the semi-final was no easy task as Willander and Team Sweden inched out a close call win against Latvian who already committed a major upset against Team Canada easier in the tournament.
Team Sweden as expected were in total control of the game, even some say dominating, but a late push by Latvia made it closer as the scored 2 unanswered goals in the second period to cut the lead to one.
With the help of Tom Willander, who was on the ice for the team leading amount of ice-time, Sweden thankfully were able to hold on to the 3-2 lead and will have a tough test in the semis when facing Team USA.
The Canucks' top defenceman prospect, Willander played a major role for Sweden in the win, leading the team in ice time with 24:12, including a team-leading 8:57 in the third period to defend the one-goal lead. - Daniel Wagner
It is going to be a fun tournament to watch as the two remaining top dogs face off, and you best believe that Canucks fans will be tuning in to watch the forsure of their blue line play.
