Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford and GM Patrik Allvin have issued a statement following the blockbuster trade of Quinn Hughes.
Following weeks of rumors surrounding his future in Vancouver, the Canucks pulled the trigger traded captain Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild for a package that included Marco Rossi, Liam Ohgren, Zeev Buium and a first round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
"Confirming. Vancouver Canucks Trade Quinn Hughes to Minnesota Wild for Minnesota Wild's 1st round pick in the 2026 NHL draft, Marco Rossi, Liam Öhgren and Zeev Buium." Darren Dreger said on X.
It certainly felt like a trade was coming at some point soon, but no one could've expected a deal this quickly and a short while ago, Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin commented on the deal sending Quinn Hughes to the State of Hockey.

In an article on the team's website on Friday evening, the Vancouver Canucks made the trade official with Quinn Hughes leaving the Lower Mainland after parts of eight season and as one of the greatest players in franchise history.
"We would like to thank Quinn for his time with the Vancouver Canucks. Quinn is a great person, a great player, and one of the greatest Canucks of all time. With the circumstances surrounding JT and now Quinn, we are fortunate to acquire these very good young players from Minnesota. They will be a key part of the rebuild that we are currently in, giving us a bright future moving forward. The hockey club will continue to build with talented young players using that as a blueprint to become a contender sooner rather than later." Jim Rutherford said.
General Manager Patrik Allvin also issued a statement of his own on Friday, thanking Quinn Hughes for the years of service he gave to the organization and wishing him the best of luck in Minnesota.
Allvin also commented on the return he received from the Minnesota Wild, with Marco Rossi likely to slot in at center on the second line, something the club has been searching for since the start of the summer, while Zeev Buium and Liam Ohgren have top pairing and middle-six potential, respectively.
"Like Jim, I would also like to thank Quinn for everything thing he has done in Vancouver. Quinn played hard, lead by example and did a lot of very good things for the Canucks. Trading away a player of this caliber is never easy and easy decision to make, but it was one we had to do to make our team better. We are so excited to add a solid centre in Marco, a good young blueliner in Zeev and a versatile forward in Liam. This year's draft is a strong one so acquiring a first-round pick was also a big part of this deal." Patrik Allvin said.
The Vancouver Canucks will play their first game in the post-Quinn Hughes era on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. PT as they open up a five-game road trip against the New Jersey Devils, one of the teams that was heavily interested in their now-former captain.
