A Western Conference team is reportedly showing strong interest in Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood, who was made available by Patrik Allvin last month.
The Vancouver Canucks are beginning to receive calls from around the league after the club decided to make some players on their roster, including all pending unrestricted free agents available for trade.
One player that has already drawn a ton of interest on the trade market is forward Kiefer Sherwood, with anywhere from eight-to-ten teams in the mix for the Columbus, Ohio native, however it's going to cost quite a bit if they want to land the NHL's single-season record holder for hits.
"The Canucks have shopped him around the league and originally wanted a good, young prospect. According to league sources, the Wild offered one (it's unclear who) and the Canucks have since changed gears. Reportedly, they now want a good roster player and have also asked teams for a first-round pick." Joe Smith and Michael Russo of The Athletic said.

In an article for The Athletic this week, Joe Smith and Michael Russo, citing a report from insider Pierre LeBrun, say that the Minnesota Wild have strong interest in Kiefer Sherwood from the Vancouver Canucks.
"As talked about on last week's "Worst Seats in the House" podcast and reported by The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, the Wild have shown significant interest in pending free agent Kiefer Sherwood, who carries a $1.5 million AAV and makes $1.3 million in salary." Smith and Russo said.
Along with the Minnesota Wild, other teams that reportedly have interest in Kiefer Sherwood as of Thursday afternoon include the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders.
Now, whether those teams can afford to pay the Canucks' asking price for Kiefer Sherwood remains to be seen, but if the 31-year-old is able to pick up the pace after struggling over the last few weeks, GM Patrik Allvin should have zero issues getting that first round pick, along with another asset the club desires.
With less than three months to go until the trade deadline, the clock is ticking on Kiefer Sherwood's time with the Vancouver Canucks and it's going to be interesting to not only see where he ends up, but also if the acquiring team is able to work out a contract extension with him.
