The Vancouver Canucks have announced their projected lineup and starting goaltender ahead of tonight's road trip opener in Salt Lake City against the Utah Mammoth.
Ahead of the National Hockey League's Olympic break, the Vancouver Canucks hit the road for a quick two-game road trip starting tonight against a familiar face in Ian Cole and the Utah Mammoth.
After defeating the Anaheim Ducks last Thursday, the Vancouver Canucks followed that up with a great effort against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but came up short as William Nylander scored the shootout winner, while former first rounder Jonathan Lekkerimaki found himself on the bench for the second half of the third period and overtime.
"It’s more on the defensive side. He’s getting there, for sure. The more he’s with us the more he’ll know certain things and the trust will be there. It’s just slight movements defensively. That’s just being young. He’s a smart guy. He’ll get there pretty quick." Foote said about benching Lekkerimaki according to Canucks Army's Tyson Cole.
Vancouver Canucks announce projected lineup, starting goaltender vs Utah Mammoth
The Canucks took to the ice at Delta Center earlier today for the morning skate where it was announced that Finnish netminder Kevin Lankinen will be between the pipes, his first start since giving up three goals on six shots against the San Jose Sharks last Tuesday.
"Kevin Lankinen is the first #Canucks goaltender off of the ice and is your projected starter Monday vs. Utah." Thomas Drance of The Athletic shared on X.
There was one notable absence at the morning skate today as Conor Garland missed out as he's feeling a bit under the weather, however he is expected to play tonight against the Mammoth, remaining in a top line role with Elias Pettersson and Evander Kane.
Max Sasson and Victor Mancini are expected to remain on the sidelines once again, with Pierre-Olivier Joseph drawing in for his third consecutive game, the most he's played in a row since October.
