The Vancouver Canucks have embraced the rebuild phase as the team doesn't seem to have any positive direction, despite their plans Jim Rutherford and Patrick Allvin have no desire to trade Tyler Myers.
Myers will be a free agent in 2027, and the plan would be to extend him beyond that for the Canucks.
"Patrick Johnston of The Province also mentioned that it's unlikely Tyler Myers would waive his no-trade clause, adding that his family is settled in Vancouver and moving far away from them at this time isn't something the soon-to-be 36-year-old wants to do."-Jaxon
Vancouver Canucks want to keep Tyler Myers for the rest of his career.
Yahoo Sports spoke on the unlikelihood of Myers being dealt by the Canucks, his no-trade clause makes it rather difficult to move him, and Myers doesn't want to leave Vancouver. But the Canucks would benefit a lot if they were able to trade him, they could get some decent draft picks in return and allow their young defensemen to start playing NHL minutes.
If Tyler Myers ends up waiving his no-movement clause, it would benefit the Vancouver Canucks in their rebuild and open up a spot for someone like Elias Pettersson or Victor Mancini to actually get some playing time in the big leagues. And allow them to develop where they belong.
At the same time holding onto him, does allow for a mentorship role for Myers. He can pave the way for Zeev Buium, and Mancini once he does make the roster. Myers is a great example of what a true professional is, he plays hard, leads by example, and is an excellent role model for up and coming players. The Canucks can benefit if he stays or goes.
