With less than a week until the new season begins, a new report indicates that the Vancouver Canucks are among the teams in the mix for a former first pick.

The Vancouver Canucks have been trying all summer long to make additions to their NHL roster via the trade market, but due to high costs, have been unable to do so.
Over the weekend, a report came out from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period that the Vancouver Canucks were still trying to add to their roster before the season begins, with a middle-six forward on Patrik Allvin's radar.
"I do think the Canucks...are going to start just looking around for a mid six, bottom six type of forward; they started poking around, I think they'll escalate that a little bit." Pagnotta said on Hello Hockey.

According to David Pagnotta, the Chicago Blackhawks are looking to move on from Lukas Reichel, with General Manager Kyle Davidson exploring the market for the German forward, who is reportedly open to a change of scenery.
"The Chicago Blackhawks have been actively exploring the trade market in an attempt to move forward Lukas Reichel.

Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson has been engaged in talks with multiple teams about Reichel , who is open to a change of scenery as his opportunities in Chicago have seemed to be dwindling." Pagnotta said.

Pagnotta went on to add that currently, there are three teams that have shown interest in the 23-year-old winger - the Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks and the Vancouver Canucks.
"The Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks are among the teams believed to have interest in Reichel, who was drafted 17th overall by Chicago in the 2020 NHL Draft." Pagnotta said.

Reichel, a native of Nuremburg, Germany has had a bit of a rough go with the Chicago Blackhawks and has found himself in the press box as a healthy scratch on occasion, with his career-high in points coming last season when he registered 22 (eight goals, 14 assists) in 70 games.
Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson said to reporters in early September that this year was going to be a bit of a "prove-it" camp for Reichel.
"It's a little bit of a prove-it camp for Lukas. It's been an up-and-down couple of years for him. But we still see Lukas as an extremely talented, high-upside player that has just as good a shot as anyone as breaking camp with this team. But he's got to earn it just like everyone else. And he's gotta find that niche. Where you gonna find yourself, where you gonna line up in the roster? That's up to him to perform in camp and then coaches to deliver feedback and have that give-and-take to make sure he's got all the information necessary to make this team." Davidson said.

Reichel has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $1.2 million US and is set to become a restricted free agent on July 1st, 2026.
