Amid all the offseason troubles the Vancouver Canucks have already run into when trying to find a new second-line center, the organization has begun a major process with power forward fan favorite Kiefer Sherwood.
Vancouver Canucks reportedly started contract extension talks with Kiefer Sherwood
With those issues aside, some good news has at least come come out of the Vancouver Canucks camp, where it is reported the team and power forward fan favorite Kiefer Sherwood are in the midst of negotiating a new contract extension.
Now entering the second and final season of a two-year, $3 million pact, he has certainly performed well above what he is earning, breaking the single-season hits record (462) and becoming a force to play against on the Canucks third-line.
Now contract extension eligible, Sherwood is looking to get a fairly big pay raise.
In a recent appearance on Sportsnet 650 (audio link), GM Patrik Allvin indicated that he has had preliminary discussions about a contract extension with Sherwood's camp.
Tt would make sense that an extension with Sherwood could be announced in the following few days as the Canucks have already been super active on the extension front.
They signed All-Star netminder Thatcher Demko to a three-year, $25 million deal and subsequently singing fan favorite winger Conor Garland to a six-year, $36 million contract, both of which that will kick in for 2026-27.
