The Vancouver Canucks organization has officially announced the signing of a 6'2" defenseman from British Columbia who spent four seasons in the NCAA.

After missing out on the Kelly Cup Playoffs last season, the Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, made a ton of changes to their roster this summer in the hopes that they can avoid failing to qualify for the postseason for a fourth time in the last five seasons.
Among the signings Kalamazoo has made during the offseason include Cam Knuble, son of longtime NHLer Mike Knuble, NCAA champion Robby Drazner, as well as a pair of former Notre Dame Fighting Irish - Hunter Strand and Ryan Helliwell.
As the Kalamazoo Wings continue to round out their roster ahead of training camp, the club has announced another signing, this time with ties to British Columbia, the province of their NHL affiliate.

In a post on the team's official website earlier this week, the Kalamazoo Wings announced that they've agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Canadian defenseman Powell Connor.
"The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks, announced Wednesday that defenseman Powell Connor has signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) for the 2025-26 season." the Wings said.

Connor, a native of Vernon, British Columbia, expressed his excitement in joining the Kalamazoo Wings, saying he's looking forward to a great season, which is set to be his season full year in the ECHL.
"I can't wait to play in front of the K-Wings fans. I've heard great things about the organization and city. Looking forward to a great season in Kalamazoo." Connor said.

The 25-year-old spent four seasons in the BCHL with the Chilliwack Chiefs and Trail Smoke Eaters before heading south to the NCAA to join Michigan State University where he was teammates with current NHL prospects including David Gucciardi - a 2022 seventh rounder of the Washington Capitals and Karsen Dorwart, who made five appearances for the Philadelphia Flyers at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
In the summer of 2023, Connor transferred to Canisius College for his fourth and final season in the NCAA and ended up finishing his collegiate career with eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 84 games.
Connor and the rest of the Kalamazoo Wings will open up the 2025-26 season on home ice on October 18th against the Fort Wayne Komets.
