Vancouver Canucks' Pending UFA Pius Suter Hit With Unfortunate News Ahead of Free Agency

With Free Agency just 12 days away, the Vancouver Canucks are negotiating with some of their big pending UFA's, but one in particular has received some unfortunate news about his current value in the market.
After the disappointing 2024-2025 season, it is glaringly clear that the Vancouver Canucks are extremely thin at the center position and it has become General Manager Patrik Allvin's number priority heading into the offseason.
With that being said, would think that the Canucks would fighting tooth and nail o try and come to an agreement with a break out star like Pius Suter. But, the latest report indicates that Allvin refuses to negotiate above what he thinks he is worth.

Pius Suter's value on the open market a lot lower than previously expected
By all accounts, after scoring 25 goals and 21 assists for 46 points in 81 games, it is believed that Suter is searching for a contract in the ballpark of $4 million AAV, but the Canucks are letting him walk believing that he is demanding too much.

But, a new development has given Suter some pretty unfortunate news that may have to make him re-think what he wants in terms of a contract.
On the popular Canucks Sportsnet 650 radio show, the two hosts got into a heated debate about Suter and his value, stating that they are hearing the market is "soft" on him, that for the number he wants, not many teams are willing to cough up that kind of dough for a 29 year old center who has had one above average season.

It is unfortunate that it is coming to a difference of a million dollars in order to settle a contract between the Canucks and Suter, but Allvin does have a point when he does not want to go above market value for late 20's breakout star.
