With the Vancouver Canucks already thin at the center, you would think that general manager Patrik Allvin would be fighting to keep break out star Pius Suter on the team, but the latest report indicates he wont budge on what he thinks he's worth.

In Canucks land, news and decisions change in a heartbeat..
An update was given on Wednesday where it was disclosed that after his break out year, the Canucks are doing their best to try and keep Suter around, where Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal shared that the asking price is in the ballpark of $4 million per season.
"We're down to crunch time, folks. Brock Boeser and Pius Suter, July 1st is not too far away. The Canucks want to keep Pius Suter, but it sounds like the number could be too high for Vancouver." Dhaliwal said.

He added, "The two sides have talked. No concrete offer from the Canucks yet. The July 1st center market is slim, we all know that, Don. Brock Nelson going off the market could mean more teams in on Suter. I'm told the Canucks do not want to go to a crazy number for Suter.

Suter's July 1st number is going to start with a 4. I do believe the Canucks don't want to go there, I think their number might be somewhere in the 3's." - Rick Dhaliwal

Pius Suter has now priced himself out of Vancouver..

Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has not given an official offer just yet, but it is clear that he will not negotiate if the number stars with a four.
In reality, the team is sitting in the low to mid three's and according to the market, he is worth more so it appears that he has already priced himself out of Vancouver.
This fact was further reinforced by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
Elliotte Friedman: Pius Suter likely headed to market; Canucks don't want to go to the level the market has him right now - 32 Thoughts Podcast
Although a risky move to hand a big contract to a player who has only had one big season of production under his belt, with all that occurred last season, the team does not have a ton of chips to play with when it comes to incentivizing players to want to sign here.
The Canucks need to keep Suter around and if they are only around one million apart in AAV, Allvin needs to step up and pay him what the market says he is worth.
