Vancouver Canucks' Thatcher Demko Finally Reveals Major News to the Media Regarding His Return
Since being sidelined with an injury in the first-round of last seasons playoff run, Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko has been inching closer and closer to returning.
After what was seen in practice today, Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko spoke to the media to give his assessment of when he believes he could return to game action.
It was almost three weeks to the date that we finally saw Demko return to competing in full practices with the Vancouver Canucks, but the time frame for his return has always been kept under wraps.
Today, ahead of the Canucks matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Demko manned his own net for the first time, and gave some very encouraging comments to the media on when fans can expect him back in action.
Thatcher Demko gives timetable for his return to the Vancouver Canucks
He told the media after practice that he he is now considered day-to-day and no longer week-to-week.
He feels that he is now at a point that he can start having a serious discussion with head coach Rick Tocchet about getting his first game under his belt since going down with a knee injury.
"It's been pretty day to day, which is great we're kind of out of that week-to-week window now,» Demko said. «I think I'm at a point now where I could potentially have a discussion with [coach Rick Tocchet] and be available to back up or what have you between now and probably the next three games. So, I think that's kind of the window we're looking at and kind of see what each day brings.»
It was already confirmed that team MVP Kevin Lankinen will be getting the net for the first of 6 home games kicking off with the Blue Jackets on December 7th.
But, nonetheless, you can expect Demko to make any of the starts when the Canucks host the Tampa Lightning in an afternoon game on Sunday, the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday or the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
There may not be an exact date for his return just yet, but it sounds like he is fully ready to make a major impact sooner rather than later.
