Fifth round draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks Gabriel Chiarot had some interesting news right before the holidays, as his OHL team the Brampton Steelheads traded him to the Kitchener Rangers for eight draft picks.
Chiarot has developed tremendously in his three years in the OHL, and this move to a top team could put him over the edge before he starts his pro hockey career.
"In a press release on Monday, the Ontario Hockey League's Brampton Steelheads announced that they've traded Vancouver Canucks prospect Gabriel Chiarot to the Kitchener Rangers in exchange for eight draft picks (2 seconds, 2 thirds, 1 fourth, 1 fifth, 1 eighth and 1 tenth), along with the rights to forward Adam Valentini, a 2026 draft prospect who is currently playing for the University of Michigan."-Jaxon
Gabriel Chiarot involved in massive trade in the OHL.
Chris Faber of NHL.com reported on the trade and what it means for the 19-year old prospect. Chiarot had 25 points in 31 games with the Steelheads prior to the Christmas break and now turns his attention to helping the Rangers win.
"It's really exciting. And I'm very happy to go to an organization like Kitchener. I've heard nothing but good things, and they have a really good team. So hopefully I can try and help out and hopefully win an OHL championship. I think I can help a lot and bring that hard, fast, physical game I play."-Faber
Chiarot has attributed his success to more playing time, becoming an assistant captain and playing in every situation. And will look to bring that experience to the Rangers. If Chiarot continues on this trajectory, he could be expected to be a solid player for the Vancouver Canucks organization.
