The Vancouver Canucks have tied an unfortunate franchise record after their poor start to the 2025-26 season on home ice at Rogers Arena, which something they need to fix in the New Year.

After a ton of optimism in the offseason following the re-signing of Brock Boeser, contract extensions for Thatcher Demko & Conor Garland, along with the acquisition of Evander Kane, it hasn't been the season the Vancouver Canucks were hoping for, especially on home ice.
As of New Year's Day, the Vancouver Canucks second-last in the National Hockey League's Western Conference, one point ahead of the Winnipeg Jets, with a 16-20-3 record through 39 games and with the club set to play ten of their 15 games at Rogers Arena, Adam Foote needs to find a way to get more out of his team on home ice.

Vancouver Canucks tie unfortunate franchise record following poor start to season at Rogers Arena

Following their defeat to former Head Coach Rick Tocchet and the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night, the Vancouver Canucks have now lost 12 of 17 games at Rogers Arena this season, which isn't a great look for the organization and their attempt to fill the seats this year.
According to David Quadrelli of Canucks Army, citing Sportsnet's Tim Micallef, the Vancouver Canucks have tied their worst home record in fracnhise record through 17 games at Rogers Arena with four wins, 12 regulation losses and an overtime loss.
"Per @tim_micallef, the #Canucks 4-12-1 home record is tied for the worst in franchise history through 17 home games." Quadrelli said on X.
It's hard to put into words how bad the Vancouver Canucks have been on home ice, but four wins in 17 games is a tough look, with two of those victories coming in the month of October against the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers.
As mentioned, the Vancouver Canucks have a busy schedule in the month of January, with 15 games in 31 days and between the 17th and 31st, Adam Foote's group will play eight straight at Rogers Arena and there's some tough matchups in there - Edmonton, Washington and the New York Islanders just to name a few.
While the Canucks might be entering their "hybrid retool", the club still needs to put a product on the ice that fans want to pay money to see and if the losing continues, which is likely, attendance is going to drop in a big way leading up to the Olympic break.
