Vancouver mayor chirps the Oilers and challenges Edmonton's mayor
The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers kick off their Round 2 series imminently on Wednesday night, and even Vancouver's mayor is getting in on the rivalry.
Ken Sim, Vancouver's media shared a video on social media eliciting a challenge to Edmonton mayor Amarjeet Sohi. Sim says he's feeling confident and excited for the series, and placed a bet on the series.
Vancouver's mayor says if, or rather when, the Canucks beat the Oilers, Amarjeet Sohi needs to don a Canucks jersey and fly the flag of the Vancouver Canucks above City Hall.
Sim says if the Oilers win, Vancouver will do the same.
In the unlikely event that the Oilers win, we'll do the same... so my question is, are you up to the challenge? Because we are.
Mayor Sohi has since accepted the challenge, and the two teams are ready to reignite a bitter rivalry in their Round 2 series, it will be the first time the two teams have met since 1992.
