Derek Forbort underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a broken orbital bone. Forbort missed Vancouver's last two games of the season after sustaining his injury against Minnesota on April 12. He suffered the injury in a fight with Wild forward Yakov Trenin.

He is doing well. I also believe some talks have taken place about re-signing him. #Canucks
The 33-year-old defenseman is likely to be fit for the 2025-26 season, but he'll require a new deal since he's scheduled to hit unrestricted free agency this summer.
In his first season with Vancouver in 2024-25, Forbort recorded two goals, nine assists, 77 blocked shots, 65 hits, and 39 shots on goal across 54 games.
Forbort's injury is part of the many that plagued the Vancouver Canucks all season long.
Yakov Trenin received a game misconduct after landing a late punch on Derek Forbort while he was on the ice.
Forbort went to the dressing room following the altercation.
To really put things into perspective, only two Canucks' players played in all 82 games this season.
Over the course of his 499-game career, the 6-foot-4 Minnesota native previously played for the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, Winnipeg Jets, and Boston Bruins. Forbort was originally selected 15th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Injuries crushed the Vancouver Canucks this season.
We'll have to wait and see if he signs a contract extension with the Canucks this offseason.
