A right handed shot defender, agile skater and tons of room the grow, not only did the Canucks' front office fell in love with the player, but they also loved the human being behind everything. Willander is set to line-up for Boston University in the NCAA's top tier with another Canucks' prospect Aidan Celebrini. The Canucks issued a statement in that regard explaining what was next for the team's newest jewel:
The team highlighted that Willander's willingness to learn dictated his choices to take the NCAA route instead of turning pro to the SHL like many other Swedes have done (like Jonathan Lekkerimaki). Willander will definitely gain from that North-American experience in the NCAA, once he graduates to the NHL, he'll already be use to the culture, the systems and the North-American rinks.
At this time, the hopes are that Willander can develop into the ideal partner for Quinn Hughes.
