LATEST | Major turnaround regarding Matvei Michkov hours before the draft
Matvei Michkov has been the name on every lip over the last week since he's probably the most mysterious prospect ahead of tonight's draft.
The current trend suggested that the Russian star winger would most likely fall down a few ranks due to his uncertain status. Seen as the best prospect after Connor Bedard, it was believed that he could've fallen all the way down to the Capitals, who will be drafting at the 8th seed.
Elliotte Friedman dropped a bombshell earlier today regarding the prospect and the Anaheim Ducks, who will be taking the second team to walk up the stage:
' Friedman on 32TP talking about the Ducks and how they are a team to watch tonight: «That guy (Pat Verbeek) can do anything; you (talking to Marek) had someone texting you saying he could take Michkov, and I think people do believe that»
The Ducks are obviously loaded with talent down the middle; with Trevor Zegras and Mason MacTavish leading the pot, it would make sense for them to add the talented winger.
Not so long ago, it seemed set in stone that the top four would be made of Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson and Will Smith. If Anaheim were to select Michkov with the second overall, it could disrupt a lot team's lists.
