MAJOR | Flames top prospect facing criminal charges: Trouble coming his way
Some concerning news broke today regarding one of the Flames' top prospects, Topi Ronni.
SERIOUS ACCUSATIONS ON THE YOUNG MAN
As confirmed by his Finnish club, Ronni, a 19-year-old Fin, was accused of facing criminal charges.
'' Flames 2022 2nd-round pick Topi Ronni has been accused of r*pe and is facing criminal charges, according to his Finnish club Tappara. ''
The Flames issued an official statement regarding the allegations:
''We became aware of a potential legal issue involving Topi Ronni following our selection of him in the 2022 NHL Draft.
We take this matter seriously and will let the legal process follow its course.
We have no further comment at this time.''
Ronni was the Flames' 44th overall selection in the 2022 Draft. He has not yet signed a contract with the team, and it wouldn't be a surprise if the Flames elected to release the prospect rights. In Finland's top league, the Liiga, the youngster now has 2 points through 12 games.
