One player that could be available to them is University of Connecticut forward, Matthew Wood, who happens to be from Nanaimo, British Columbia.
In a recent interview with TSN's Mark Masters, Wood discussed a number of topics and was asked what it would mean to him if his hometown Vancouver Canucks used the 11th overall pick to select him later this month.
Wood, 18, had a very strong freshman campaign with UConn, putting up 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists), four penalty minutes and was a plus-seven. His play earned him a spot on Hockey East's All-Rookie Team, alongside Montreal Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson and Philadelphia Flyers prospect Cutter Gauthier.
While it's unclear if Matthew Wood will be available to Allvin at 11th overall, if he is, he should absolutely be atop their list of who to select later this month. If Wood happens to go before the Canucks take the stage in Nashville, then they could turn their attention to one of the following three prospects, if they're available - Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Dalibor Dvorsky, Eduard Sale.
