One way they could shed salary is through a buyout or two, but it's more likely that Allvin goes down the trade route with someone who has not only a mid-level to high AAV, but someone who has some term as well.
According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, the Canucks' top off-season priority should be to trade 27-year-old forward Conor Garland.
Garland, a native of Scituate, Massachusetts, has a cap hit of $4.95 million USD for the next three seasons before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026.
His production hasn't been terrible either, as in his second season with the Canucks during the 2022-23 campaign, Garland put up 46 points (17 goals, 29 assists) in 81 games. Garland's production and age could make him an intriguing option for teams and he might not only help the Canucks shed salary, but could also garner a decent return in any trade.
