LATEST | Insider reveals the NHL's top landing spot for Connor Bedard
The National Hockey League's draft lottery is set for May 8th and all eyes are on who will land the first overall pick and select generational talent Connor Bedard.
During his most recent edition of the '32 Thoughts' podcast, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reveals which city the National Hockey League would be very happy to see land Bedard.
"I think the NHL would be very happy if Connor Bedard ended up in Philly, that's a big time hockey market...Philly is a big, big intense, sports-loving, hockey-loving market, near, sorry West Coasters, the East Coast media hub of North America."
Going into the draft lottery, the Flyers have a 6.5% chance of landing the first overall pick which is the seventh-best odds with Arizona, Montreal, San Jose, Chicago, Columbus and Anaheim all ahead of them. It's pretty unlikely that Bedard lands in Philadelphia, but it's certainly something to keep and eye on during the evening of May 8th.
The North Vancouver native had an incredible season with the Western Hockey League's Regina Pats, as well as with Canada at the 2023 World Juniors. In 57 games with Regina, he had 143 points (71 goals, 72 assists) and added 20 points in seven playoffs. At the World Juniors, he set a new record for points by a Canadian in a single tournament with 23 in seven games.
