LATEST | Kevin Bieksa calls out the NHL on live TV after terrible review
The NHL has often been pointed at for their inconsistent calls, and they once again proved it on Saturday Night. The Jets and the Leafs were playing one another, and a controversial goal call has made headlines ever since.
Tyler Bertuzzi picked up a loose puck in front of Connor Hellebuyck's sent. Still, the goal was ultimately called because the Jets' defenceman pushed William Nylander on their goaltender:
HNIC ANALYSTS CALL OUT THE NHL
Kelly Hrudey and Kevin Bieksa agreed that the wrong call was made since Nylander was pushed on the Jets' goaltender. The panellists delivered their thoughts as soon as they were given the opportunity:
"It's the wrong call, in my opinion," said Hrudey matter-of-factly. "I thought that DeMelo clearly pushed Nylander into Hellebuyck,, so I think this goal should count. I'm surprised."
"He was pushed after and that,t's where the contact originated... I'm confused about this as well, Kel," said Bieksa in response to the rant from his co-host."I was confident they're for Toronto," said Bieksa. "I thought it would be reversed."
To show how inconsistent the NHL is with their goal calls, this goal counted:
