LATEST | Official Statement from the NHL confirming the worst for the Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs have yet again secured a playoff spot. The Tampa Bay Lightning did as such and both teams have sealed their fate heading into the 2023 playoffs.
The NHL released the following statement:
�'Our first-round series is officially set.
The Lightning, who secured a place in the 2023 Playoffs, also confirmed that they will face the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round for the second time in as many years.''

The Maple Leafs have been steady participants in the Stanley Cup playoffs since 2017 but have failed to reach the second round and now their worst fears have yet again been confirmed since they're set to face the powerful Lightning.
The Lightning has taken part in the last three Stanley Cup finals, winning two of them and they certainly won't stop there. Can Auston Matthews and his band really go through Andrei Vasilevski? Or will we wait another year before the Leafs break the curse?
