MAJOR | David Reinbacher makes a statement regarding his draft rank: The Canucks are facing a tough call
David Reinbacher is viewed as this year's top defenseman heading into the 2023 NHL Amateur Draft. The Austrian-born right-handed defenseman fits precisely the type of player the Canucks need to play by Quinn Hughes' side.
He already has the NHL's physique at 6'02'' and just under 190 pounds. He played in the Swiss' top league this year, where he registered 22 points in 46 outings, and the scouting reports were quite promising:
'His game rests on a projectable, rock solid defensive foundation. As opponents attack through the neutral zone, he gaps up early, builds speed going backward to match that of the puck carrier, takes away the middle of the ice with his stick, and closes with force once he's registered support. '

The NHL is currently holding its annual testing prior to the Draft, and every team and tons of journalists are gathered at the event. Teams have started conducting their interviews and are previewed by many analysts as a sure thing in the top 10; Reinbacher was asked what he believed on the matter.
In an interview with Anthony Martineau of TVA Sports, Reinbacher revealed that he wasn't expecting to go in the top 10. The prospect's been conversing with multiple GMs and scouting teams, and he believes he'll be going past the top 10 making him available at number 11.
The Canucks will face quite the dilemma if they step on the stage and he's still up for grabs. They have needs for right-handed shot defenseman and centerman; this draft is loaded with excellent centerman; if Reinbacher is still up for grabs, should he be Allvin's picked?
