Tank for Bedard: Insider reveals the Canucks' plan
The Vancouver Canucks' season has not been taking the road that was expected of them. Some fans have been asking for the team to liquidate and go into full tank mode to increase the team's chances of getting the North Vancouver phenom, Connor Bedard.
Connor Bedard has been making the news for quite a while now, but since he put up his outstanding World Junior Championship performance where he had 23 points in 7 games, it reached another level. He's been nothing other than extraordinary in the WHL as well, where he now has 70 points in 29 games, the best numbers we've seen from a 17-year-old since Connor McDavid.
Those of you who were hoping to see the Canucks go all-in for the young phenom will have to lower your expectations since the information the insiders have shared isn't pointing in that direction. Rick Dhaliwal made the following statement on Donnie and Dhali earlier today:
"The goal is to fix this (for future seasons), not go to the bottom. I have zero indication they are going to go for Bedard (tank)."
Chances of seeing goals like this one aren't dead, since even if the Canucks aren't willingly losing they still have odds of winning the lottery. With their current rank, they stand 7th from the 32nd place, which gives the Canucks 6.5% odds of winning the first overall pick.
Would you want the team to go all-in on the homegrown talent?
