Jack Edwards has been the game play by play announcer for the Bruins for a long-time, and he's well known for his controversial comments. Known to be a homer, he once again made a biased claim:
The Bruins commenting team were discussing the instigator penalty awarded to A.J. Greer after he had jumped Sam Lafferty following a hard-clean hit. Edwards commented with a «well it is Toronto».
The NHL has made it clear that after a clean hit if a third man jumps in to defend a teammate, an instigation penalty is to be called. At the end of the day, it's ok for the commentator to be a homer for his team, but to refer to another team as getting advantages on a penalty that deserved to be called?
If the game was fixed in the Maple Leafs' favor, I'm fairly certain that would've made it further then the 1st Round all these years.
