WATCH: Connor Bedard's incredible post-game interview is lighting up the internet
The Canadian team captured the highest of honors last night when Dylan Guenther scored the OT winner. That goal marked a second WJC win in less than 6 months but it also put an end to Bedard's dominating stint at the World Juniors.
Not only did he dominate, but he was on another level all tournament and ended up being awarded the tournament MVP. He dominated the scoring sheet amongst all Draft eligible players, but amongst all players as well. He was 9 points ahead of Logan Cooley (2022 3rd Overall Pick), Bedard had 23 in 7 games while the American had 14.
As a comparison, Connor McDavid had 11 points in 7 games at the WJC in his 17-year-old presence. He was tied with Sam Reinhart and Nicolas Petan for 1st in points.
While Bedard retained attention for his on-ice performance, scouts will definitely enjoy viewing his post-game interviews since they show a mature, poised young man that already has the qualities of a great leader. Here's what he responded to the reporter when he was asked about how he felt after his performance in the tournament:
«I don't want to talk about myself right now. We're not talking about me. We just [one of] the biggest tournaments in the world. And man I love this group; I love this country.»
The young man will definitely cause the envy of many team owners, GMs, and scouts. It definitely brings up the question, is the North Van product worth tanking for? Here's Craig Button's opinion on the subject:
