Future hall of famer Marc-Andre Fleury confirms his retirement
Marc-Andre Fleury was one of the rare goaltenders to be selected at the first rank of an NHL Draft, and he lived up to the expectations that came with it.
Fleury was made the first overall pick of the 2003 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins who had a dominant netminder for ages afterwards. Fast forward to 2024, Fleury went from the Penguins to the Las Vegas Golden Knights, the Chicago Blackhawks and most recently, the Minnessota Wild.
After 21 Professional season, the legendary goaltender announced during a media availability that the 2024-2025 campaign would be his last. The deed was later confirmed by his agent:
Future Hall of Fame goalie Marc-Andre Fleury confirmed today what he said at his end of year media availability, the next season will be his last. 🌸
1025 Regular season games, 561 regular season wins, 75 shoutouts and 3 Stanley Cups. Fleury will spend the last year of his contract with the Wild. He started in 40 games and posted a 17-15-5 record and 2 shootouts.
