LATEST | Chris Tanev poised for a massive pay raise
Current Calgary Flames and former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Chris Tanev has been involved in no shortage of trade rumours recently. The punishing defender is on an expiring contract and is due for a hefty pay raise.
Not to mention, the market for right-handed defensemen is incredibly thin and the asking price is astronomically high. Perhaps the 34-year-old Toronto native will remain a Flame past the trade deadline. Nonetheless, he is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and will surely be sought after.
Pierre LeBrun reports that the veteran is in line for an extremely significant pay raise:
Tanev currently has a lone goal along with 13 assists for 14 points in 56 games this season, in addition to an impressive 171 hits while averaging just under 20 minutes of ice time per game.
