NHL makes an announcement on the Canucks and the second round
The Canucks locked their ticket to the NHL Playoffs second round with a 1-0 win against the Nashville Predators. The Oilers had already secured their spot with a 4-1 triumph over the Kings, and they'll be waiting for our Nucks!
The NHL issued a statement following the win confirming the incoming matchups but also announcing the odds who had the Oilers as the preferred winners:
MATCHUP LOCKED IN 🔒
The @Canucks will face off against the @EdmontonOilers in the Second Round of the #StanleyCup Playoffs!
Presented by @FDSportsbook
We've got another Second Round matchup set.
The @Canucks and @EdmontonOilers will meet in their first playoff series in 32 years (EDM: 2-0, VAN: 0-2).
Things will be kicking off on Tuesday with the Canucks overlooked. Even though the Canucks held their division's first rank and went undefeated against the Oilers this season, they are still seen as the underdogs.
The Canucks will need every help they can get to shut down two of the NHL's very best players, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. It's safe to say that Arturs Silovs has secured the starting position until Thatcher Demko returns, but will it be enough?
