Multiple reports confirmed that the Carolina Hurricanes were shopping their star in the making, Martin Necas, a former first-round draft selection. It seemed almost certain that Martin Necas would not remain with the Carolina Hurricanes after the NHL draft. However, as the draft has passed and trade opportunities are diminishing, Necas's chances of staying in Carolina have significantly increased, particularly after filing for arbitration.
Tulsky hasn't ruled out a trade scenario, but the consensus is that there is no urgency to trade the Czech forward unless the Hurricanes receive an offer they deem suitable. The teams for which Necas is interested in playing aren't willing to pay the required price, and teams willing to meet said price aren't in the player's range of interest:
Losing Jake Guentzel to free agency surely affected their willingness to move Necas. As he heads to arbitration, the forward will only be eligible to sign a 1 or 2-year deal, at the end of which a similar debate is expected.
