The Vancouver Canucks announced earlier that they had traded away their captain Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders and new information came up in that regard.

According to the information that was leaked, the Canucks would be retaining 25% of Horvat's cap hit for the remainder of the campaign.

So here is the full spectrum of this deal:

To New York Islanders

Bo Horvat ($4.125M cap hit)
UFA on July 1st 2023
GP: 49 | G: 31 | A: 23 | PTS: 54

To Vancouver Canucks

Anthony Beauvilier ($4.2M AAV until 2024)
25 years old.
GP: | G: | A: | PTS:

Aatu Raty ($863K AAV until 2025)
20 years old.
GP: 27 | G: 8 | A: 7 | PTS: 15

1st Round Pick 2023 (Top12 Protection, becomes unprotected in 2024)

$1.375M of Horvat's cap hit until July 1st

Obviously, only time will tell who gets the upper hand in this trade. The Canucks' community surely took a hit when the team traded away their captain, do you believe they fetch a good enough haul for their captain?

At this point, Horvat has not yet discussed any possibilities for an extension, do you believe he'll hit free agency? Could the Canucks decide to pursue him then?
DID THE CANUCKS HAVE THE UPPER-HAND IN THIS ONE?
