TRADE PROPOSAL | Canucks make massive offer to acquire Noah Hanifin from the Calgary Flames

Many sources around the league have stated that the Flames would have their young stud defenseman Noah Hanifin on the trade block. He'll be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2024 season, and he has yet to show any signs of wanting to sign back with the Flames.

Flames Nation brought up trade comparables to have an idea of the type of return they could expect. While Hanifin is only entering his prime years, knowing what the Canucks actually paid to acquire Filip Hronek (trade listed as comparable) this offer seems excessive, even if Hanifin agrees to an extension prior to the trade.

The Canucks acquired Filip Hronek for the Islanders' 1st Round Selection along with their 2nd Round Selection. Hronek and Hanifin are former 1st Rounders, born in 1997, and both have a year left on their deals. Hronek will be a restricted free agent, while Hanifin will be set free.

Now, the Canucks could really use a defenseman like Hanifin. A left-handed shot, 6'03'' and 215 pounds, who had a career-high 48 points in 2021-2022. He is an extremely gifted two-way defenseman just entering his prime years. Even if he were to agree to a long-term extension, this trade offer may be a stretch to what his trade value could actually be.
