Catastrophe for the Bruins: Top prospect refuses to sign to re-enter draft
Teams around the National Hockey League, including the Vancouver Canucks, will be gearing up for several meetings with their scouts over the next few weeks ahead of the Entry Draft in late June.
While teams may already have a list of players they'd like to target in specific rounds, there may be a late entrant to the draft, one of the top goaltenders in the Western Hockey League this past season.
According to Mark Divver of New England Hockey Journal, Reid Dyck, a prospect of the Boston Bruins, could re-enter the NHL Draft next month in Las Vegas if he's not signed by the organization by Saturday, June 1st.
The Winkler, MB native, was selected 183rd overall by the Boston Bruins in 2022 and just completed his fourth season with the WHL's Swift Current Broncos. In 35 games for Swift Current, the Winkler, Manitoba native had a 25-7-2 record along with a 2.70 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and two shutouts.
"Bruins 2022 sixth round pick Reid Dyck can re-enter NHL Draft if not signed by June 1. He went June 1 with a .911 save percentage for WHL's Swift Current in '23-24," Divver said.
