As of Wednesday, Tocchet has reportedly spoken with two Western Conference teams - the Anaheim Ducks and Seattle Kraken, and it looks like a team in the Eastern Conference is also vying for his services and some consider him their top target.
Rick Tocchet reportedly the top target for the Boston Bruins
When Rick Tocchet decided to leave the Vancouver Canucks, many expected that he would land with the Philadelphia Flyers, his former team, or the Pittsburgh Penguins and while that could still happen, the Boston Bruins appear to be really interested in him.
On Wednesday, a source told RG Media that the Boston Bruins are trying really hard to secure an interview with Rick Tocchet and that, as of right now, he's their top target.
"If they can secure an interview with him, and yeah, they're trying, he becomes their top target," the source told RG Media.
The source went on to say, "Rick [Dhaliwal] is 100 percent right with what he said about Tocchet fitting the Neely and Big Bad Bruins mold,» the source said. «I think they [Bruins] should be more about the long-term, but if they really think they can turn this around fast, Tocchet is their guy, and I think he'd be interested."
With seven other head coaching vacancies in the NHL, aside from the Canucks, Rick Tocchet is going to get a long look with a number of teams and for good reason, he did solid work during his tenure in Vancouver, helping them reach Game 7 of the second round last season and winning the Pacific Division title.
Before Rick Tocchet decides where he'll be coaching next season, the 61-year-old will be making a quick pit stop this weekend to work with the NHL on TNT panel for Friday and Saturday's Stanley Cup Playoff games.
