Victor Olofsson, who scored a career-high 28 goals during the 2022-23 season and has recorded 20+ goals in three of his four NHL seasons so far, won't be in the lineup tonight against Tampa Bay. Taking his spot will be Tyson Jost, who spent three seasons playing junior hockey in British Columbia with the Penticton Vees.
Scratching Olofsson isn't an easy move for Don Granato to make, but with the Sabres winless to start the season, they're hoping Tyson Jost can add a spark to the lineup. It's unclear when writing this where Jost will slot in for Tuesday night.
Olofsson, 28, has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $4.75 million, and he's set to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2024. It seems unlikely that the Buffalo Sabres would trade him, but if they do, there won't be a shortage of teams lined up trying to acquire the Swedish sniper.
