A controversial moment occurred during Thursday night's game between the Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars that is leaving a lot of fans very confused.

During the first period, Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson appeared to play the puck with a high-stick, but the official looking right at him said it was not. As the play proceeded, the Stars would go on to score the game's opening goal, with Roope Hintz picking up his 27th of the season.

Knowing that Robertson touched the puck with a high-stick, Rick Tocchet and his coaching staff decided to use a challenge, but upon review, the goal on the ice stood and it remained 1-0 Dallas.

According to Joey Kenward of Sportsnet, it's the first time this season that the Vancouver Canucks have lost a coaches challenge, with three successful ones coming back in November.

"#Canucks are unsuccessful in a Coaches Challenge for the 1st time this season:

Nov.12 @ MTL (offside-goal overturned)

Nov.20 vs SJS (goalie interference-goal overturned)

Nov.24 @ SEA (offside-goal overturned)

Mar.28 vs DAL (missed stoppage-goal stands)

While some fans believe the right call was made, given that it's possible via the video above, Robertson made contact with the puck below his shoulders, but it's too hard to tell definitively. Because they couldn't find a definitive reason to overturn the goal, the call on the ice stood, but it's understandable to see why so many Canucks fans were frustrated with the decision.
