A former Vancouver Canucks forward has signed a multi-year contract extension on Sunday with the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.

The Florida Panthers are in search of their third consecutive Stanley Cup this season, something that hasn't been done since the New York Islanders in the early 1980s.
In order to keep their dream of a three-peat alive, they'll need role players including former Vancouver Canuck Jonah Gadjovich to step up in a big way, especially with the losses of Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov, both of whom are set to miss significant time due to injury.
During the offseason, Panthers General Manager Bill Zito was able to keep all of his top free agents around, re-signing Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad and Brad Marchand, along with Niko Mikkola to a contract extension earlier this month, and on Sunday, the club made a big decision regarding the future of former Canuck Jonah Gadjovich.

In a press release on Sunday, the Florida Panthers announced that they've agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension worth $1.81 million ($905,000 AAV) with forward Jonah Gadjovich.
"Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Jonah Gadjovich on a two-year contract extension commencing in the 2026-27 season." the club said.

Bill Zito commented on the team's decision to sign Gadjovich to an extension, praising his attitude and compete level and added that he's a big piece of the team's locker room.
"Jonah has become an integral part of our locker room and a strong contributor for our group on the ice. He possesses a fearless attitude and unrelenting competitiveness, and we are excited for Jonah to continue with us in South Florida." Zito said.

Gadjovich, 27, was a second round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, making just one appearance with the big club during the 2020-21 campaign while spending most of his time with the organization down in the American Hockey League.
The Whitby, Ontario native was claimed off waivers by the San Jose Sharks in 2021, where he'd spend the next two seasons of his career before joining the Florida Panthers' AHL affiliate in the summer of 2023 and then inking an NHL deal with them a few months later.
In 163 career games in the National Hockey League, Gadjovich has put up 19 points (ten goals, nine assists), 312 penalty minutes and is a minus-19.
