Former Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller has fallen short in his attempt to qualify for the 2025 U.S. Open, which will be held from June 12th to 15th at Oakmont Country Club in Texas.
J.T. Miller has been an avid golfer for years and even entered a qualifying tournament for the U.S. Open - one of the PGA's major events - back in 2023 when he was with the Vancouver Canucks.
Two years later and J.T. Miller finds himself in a similar position as he teed off at Tuesday's U.S. Open Qualifier at Quicksilver Golf Club in Midway, Pennsylvania, roughly 30 minutes west of Pittsburgh.

The former Vancouver Canucks forward began the day with a bogey on the first hole before rattling off six straight pars and ending up with another bogey and par to sit at +2 after the front nine.
On the back nine, J.T. Miller tried to stay in the hunt in order to avoid missing the cut at the Qualifying event and even picked up a birdie on the par-4, 402-yard 16th hole, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough as he finished the round at +4.
"A very respectable 4-over 76 for JT Miller in U.S. Open local qualifying. 5 bogeys and a late birdie. Looks like it will take being under par to advance." Jeff Paterson of Rink Wide: Vancouver said on X.
"Today, on the first green, I couldn't even hold the putter. So, I talked myself into it that it wouldn't be like that, but I think the first couple of swings are just like that." Miller said.
He went on to add, "It was hard. It got windy. I thought it would be harder with the rain. ... I had a month to practice. So, I felt good coming in here. Typically, it always comes down to making putts. That's what those guys are a lot better at doing."
Miller will now have the remainder of his offseason to rest up, recover and prepare for the 2025-26 campaign with the New York Rangers, who have a new head coach behind the bench - two-time Stanley Cup champion Mike Sullivan.
