Jacob Trouba delivers his nastiest hit: NHL to hand a suspension
We're deep into the playoffs and are headed to game four in the Eastern Conference final, opposing the Florida Panthers to the New York Rangers.
Well known across the NHL for his physicality, which blurs the Player of Safety Department's lines and grey zones, Jacob Trouba threw the nastiest elbow of this year's playoffs at the Panthers' forward Evan Rodrigues.
Trouba was only awarded a two-minute penalty, but every analyst who looked at the play and the review called for a blatant elbow to the head and believed that this should've been rewarded with a game misconduct:
The slo-mo version only adds to it. It clearly shows that Trouba intended to get that elbow out and chase after Rodrigues.
The NHL's Player Safety Department has yet to issue a statement on the subject, but they should do so rather quickly. Both teams will meet again in Florida on Tuesday.
With Trouba's history of questionable colission with opponents it shouldn't a surprise if the NHL was to hand him a multi-game sentence.
