Giroux, 36, would be the tougher of the two to bring to Vancouver for a couple of reasons. For starters, he has one-year remaining on his contract beyond the 2023-24 season with a cap hit of $6.5 million. Secondly, his contract comes with a full no-movement clause, meaning he controls where he wants to go, if anywhere. In 43 games this season, Giroux has 40 points (14 goals, 26 assists).
As for Vladimir Tarasenko, he's on an expiring contract after only signing a one-year deal with the Senators last summer worth $5 million. In 41 games for Ottawa this season, the Yaroslavl, Russia native has recorded 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists), 12 penalty minutes and is a plus-17.
