Former Canucks coach has an advice for Rick Tocchet heading into this season
On the podcast "Simmer and Gibby," former Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau offered advice to the newest Canucks head coach, Rick Tocchet.
Last season, Bruce Boudreau was fired by the Vancouver Canucks on Jan 22. The firing was controversial. The team would hire Rick Tocchet to take over the Canucks.
On the podcast, Boudreau spoke on several topics, including the Canucks coaching and what they need to do to succeed. For Boudreau, there was one key: goal-tending.
Last season, the Canucks had goalie struggles as Thatcher Demko failed to hit his stride as injuries and confidence issues were evident.
Boudreau said, "The key is always going to be Thatcher Demko...as the key is always going to be the goaltender for your team..."
If the Canucks can get some good goaltending from Demko, like the previous season, where he posted a .915 Save percentage with a 2.27 GAA, the Canucks can do severe damage.
The Canucks will rely on Demko to have a great year. Demko and the Cancuks will begin their journey on Oct 11 against the Oilers.
