The Canucks have drafted with a different mind over the last two years and it's starting to show. Not only are their top prospects looked for their respective National Teams, but even those who the Canucks selected in the later rounds.
It's a safe bet to assume that Jonathan Lekkerimaki will participate in this year's World Juniors. As one of the most dominant 19-year-old Swedes, he'll be a prominent piece to his team's success. The Canucks also added Tom Willander in the last draft, who also has great odds of making the team.
The Canucks issued a statement that actually focused on three other prospects from their pipeline. Jackson Dorrington, 2022 6th Round Pick (American), Elias (D-Pettey) Pettersson, 2022 3rd Round Pick (Swede), and Hunter Brzustewicz, 2023 3rd Round Pick (American):
It's been a while since we've seen such a promising defensive depth chart in Vancouver. With Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek leading the way in the NHL, if you take into account Jack Rathbone, Akito Hirose, Cole McWard, Filip Johansson, Jet Woo, D-Pettey, Kirill Kudryavtsev, Hunter Brzustewicz and Jackson Dorrington, is it safe to assume that the future looks bright on that blueline?
