Some good news was announced this week regarding injured Vancouver Canucks forward Jonathan Lekkerimaki, who has been on the sidelines for over two weeks.

Injury issues have been a big topic of the Vancouver Canucks' 2025-26 season thus far, with several names on the sidelines currently including Nils Hoglander, Derek Forbort, Filip Chytil, Teddy Blueger, Victor Mancini and even 2022 first round pick Jonathan Lekkerimaki.
Lekkerimaki, along with Filip Chytil and Teddy Blueger were all injured during October 19th's game against the Washington Capitals and a few days later, the Swedish forward found himself found himself on injured reserve (IR) a few days later.
It's now been 18 days since Jonathan Lekkerimaki has been able to play, but it looks like that'll change very soon after an update was given on Wednesday.

Good news announced regarding Vancouver Canucks' Jonathan Lekkerimaki

Following Wednesday's morning skate at Rogers Arena, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 announced that Jonathan Lekkerimaki, and Teddy Blueger, are expected to return to practice soon and will be donning non-contact jerseys for the time being until they're cleared by the club's training staff.
"Conor Garland returns for the #Canucks tonight. Kevin Lankinen starts. Teddy Blueger and Jonathan Lekkerimäki are expected to be non-contact participants in practice soon." Batchelor said on X on Wednesday.

Lekkerimaki's injury is a bit unknown at the moment, other than it has to do with his upper-body likely his arm or shoulder and when meeting with reporters on October 25th, Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin gave an update on Lekkerimaki, saying that the 21-year-old will be out of action for another two-to-three weeks, putting him on track for a return to the lineup between Saturday, November 8th and Saturday, November 15th.
"Allvin suggests that Chytil has been making progress but still needs to go through the protocol and hasnt been cleared.
2-3 weeks for Lekkerimäki
Forbert had a setback and is week to week.
Allvin says a lack of practice time also a challenge to get these guys back." Farhan Lalji said on X.

Lekkerimaki, a native of Tullinge, Sweden, has one goal and an even-rating in four games this season for the Vancouver Canucks and should give the team's middle-six forward group and the second power play unit a big boost upon his return at some point this month.
The Canucks will be back in action on Saturday on Hockey Night in Canada as they welcome Sean Monahan and the Columbus Blue Jackets to Rogers Arena for a 7 p.m. PT puck drop.
