The 2023 World Junior Summer Showcase is set to get underway on July 29th in Plymouth, Michigan with the United States taking on Sweden and Finland.

A few Vancouver Canucks prospects are set to represent their nations at the event, but one name has decided to withdraw from his team's roster.
According to the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, Canucks prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki is among three NHL drafted players that have withdrawn from this summer's roster. It's unclear as to why Lekkerimaki has withdrawn, but it's likely due to the fact that he's almost guaranteed a spot on Sweden's World Junior roster in December and to give him extra time to prepare for the upcoming SHL season.
But fear not Canucks fans, you'll still have plenty to watch at the World Junior Summer Showcase as Hunter Brzustewicz and Jackson Dorrington will play for the United States, while Elias Pettersson will suit up for Sweden.
As mentioned, the World Junior Summer Showcase will begin on July 29th and run until August 4th.
