The NHL season has gotten off to nightmarish start for the Vancouver Canucks, after their dropping their latest contest to the Chicago Blackhawks, head coach Adam Foote addressed the media, and fans were quick to point out his lack of accountability.
"There's such a hard matchup for Petey right now. You saw him defend so well against McDavid's line 5-on-5. We're in a situation with the injuries that it's hard to get him away from the hard matchup. I'm just so happy the way he's playing. He's playing in the mud and in the dirt. It's not easy."-Foote
Patience is wearing thin for Canucks and Adam Foote.
Taj on X posted the press conference after last night's loss to the Blackhawks, and demonstrated his frustration for Foote's excuses over why the Canucks have not been winning games.
Foote has made more excuses in his first month on the job than all the other coaches in Canucks history combined.
This lack of accountability isn't going to work in this market.
The frustration is valid, as Foote was constantly reiterating a mental fatigue within the team, and a frustration growing, that is leading to poor results. However, the second month of the season just started, there shouldn't be a mental fatigue the first month out of a 7 month season, will Foote just sound like a broken record all the way until April?
Foote also spoke on the Garland's return and how it should bolster some the Canucks' mediocre offence. And lastly Foote was asked about the penalty kill and how it's currently the worst in the league. And once again Foote blamed fatigue on their penalty kill struggles rather than giving any technical critiques whatsoever. This kind of rhetoric will not last all season for Canuck fans.
